I have noticed a major problem with the GameCube's game format. Optical Disc technology is quite advanced, but doesn't quite take it. They only hold about 1.5 gigabytes. The standard DVD holds about 4.7 gigabytes. DVDs can have more advanced games. They can put more. More is usually better. After seeing a couple of GameCube games, they seem a bit short. Pikmin and Luigi's Mansion were quite short compared to some past games such as Super Mario 64. I was wondering if this problem was serious. If this trait continues on, the games might become limited. What is your opinion on this? Optical Discs also have some advantages, though: - They are very cheap to produce
- Are unique, without any current form of reprducers

you have some quite interesting points there. those are strong, but i doubt the system can fall for that matter. the fans of the video game industry think that the other systems will fall jujst because they might dislike the games. i do see gcs games. they are spending way to much time on graphics rather than other elements. it's still to early to tell.

Yes. Good points. But The Optical Disc is a good invenstion because : 1. it can't be copied 2. The games are short because nintendo wants them short 3. DVDs are never filled up in PS2 games, there is always about 1.1 gb left.

---This thread isn't only about the Game Disc itself, but also the length of the GCN games. I stated the some GCN games were short, and they could have had more added to them. I beat LM in a week. ---Pikmin even seemed better than how it was, considering it was a new adventure. But it was very limited. What do you guys think of the shortness of these games?

Its Nintendo's quick game stratagey- they make shorter games to fill up time between massive games like Zelda and Mario.

I guess some games are short just because that's the only way they'll be fun. Come on, would you really want to spend twice as long looking for Mario's sorry butt in a creaky old mansion. I think Luigi's Mansion was about at the end of its rope (meaning it was getting old) around when the game ended. As for Pikmin, I wish they hadn't put a time limit on it. That always made it rush, rush, rush. No time to have fun, you know? I would've liked an endless amount of time to find the 30 parts.
