I recently found out somewhat of what we have been doing wrong with this board. The reason is that we aren't offering enough quality discussion to members. Up to this point, we haven't at all. We need some time to think about these issues and improve on what we already have done. Having too much off-topic chat on a forum makes things a little less interesting, so sooner or later I'm going to focus on some video game topics. We are already discussing some elements of future games. The posting games, quizzes, and chains are threads that are used just for the purpose of post count. If we can we should adapt from these threads and start some real discussion. In this way we are making this a better forum and at the same time offering something interesting for ourselves to read. Not only that but it also brings more members and we become more active altogether. I know this process isn't a couple day process; it will probably take a month or so to actually adapt to. We need people who will actually reply to the intelligent threads multiple times and start building activity.

For once Nick, I think your on to a winner because you didn't say *beep*
, *beep*
or the *beep*
ing board is *beep*
ed up so much that I'm going to give up because I have tryed everything and none of it has *beep*
ing worked. ETC ETC...
Anyways I think you could be right to consentrate on one topic while still having off topics. Like have one big topic (Not video games PLEASE) with RPG's, oddballing, and off topic as little topics, then TMR will get noticed more.
I would suggest topics to consentrate on, but all I can come up with is either Video Games (NO WAY), TV and Movies (Maybe), posting games (a possiblity) or Computing - as in help tutorials in PC stuff like HTML or how to connect a modem?? I dunno. It just have be something original I suppose.
But it isn't my board and you should choose, these are only suggestions and I hope you will clear the board and the post count and make people moods before super mods - so everyone has a fair chance at keeping up with the posts. Just remember, do what you think is best for YOUR board.
BTW, is this the longest post I have done?

Finally you get what I have been trying to say to you all along Nick! If you understand and do everything I told you to do, this place can be better. Now that you understand where your flaws are, don't make another mistake by not being patient. It seems that you are willing to be patient with it, and thats good.

Yes I know what you mean. At first I thought that post count was the only thing that attracted more members. If we can increase the amount of topical, useful messages on this forum I'm sure some of the current members will post more and non-members will possibly want to sign up at higher chances than now. However I said we still should have off-topic discussion such as games because this isn't a 1 step process. First we must actually have multiple discussions going on while we get our normal activity, and as new members join and post more frequently we can make less and less games. This way we'll be able to accomplish something big slowly but having a big effect in the end. But everyone on this board must help out, because 1 member can't do it. I doubt 2 could either. 3 can't do much.

Yes before all we did was games. PG and SB was way more then half the board if not more. The post count of a board doesn't matter as long as the dussocion is good. This is the piont of a message board. To have good discussion.

I hope this doesn't sound too simple though. Games are still needed until some discussions are going on by themselves that can replace games. Quality attracts more posters and promotes posting. I guess we need a couple more topics to start chatting on, but we already have the forums for them. GCN and OC can handle all the N stuff, XBox and CPU for all Computer related stuff, PS on PS board, and everything else is convered. I don't really think we need a Zelda board since all of it can probably fit into GCN and OC. The other consoles board should get a lot of post from here on. Some off-topic boards are un-needed, but deleting them takes some time to think about.

this doesn't actually work right. some other sucessful proboards use this method though - we just need about 100 more people to join and everything will run perfectly.

also by creating new threads all the time you can get more members to post i've found, they will get people more interested. This board already has some plus points such as a large aomunt of posts overall compared to most other boards, and a lot of members means that more people are likely to join.

yes, we have an average of like 20 posts per thread. that's not bad but if we start like 10 new threads a day we can get bombed with more activity. the only bad thing in making new threads is that sometimes they don't have the 'intelligent' feel.

yes everybody make new 'intelligent' threads. make threads that can last and reply to good threads that haven't gotten enough replies. without good threads, there's really no good activity.

the point is that nobody wants to reply to a bunch of pointless threads. quality starts quantity,
